HUBLOT
The history of HUBLOT
Carlo Crocco, an Italian, founded the Swiss luxury wristwatch brand Hublot in 1980. The firm was founded when the founder disobeyed his family's expectations and left his uncle's company to pursue his own goals.
Carlo moved to Switzerland after resigning from Binda Group in 1976, and after a while, he set out to put all he had learned working at his uncle's firm to good use. After a season of planning, he started work on a wristwatch he planned to call the Hublot when it was finished. The French phrase for "porthole" inspired this name. The first certified Hublot watches were ready to be viewed by the world in 1980, after three years of rigorous study and effort.
Carlo carried the wristwatch to the 1980 Basel watch expo, brimming with enthusiasm for what he had created, but after a long day at the exhibition displays, he was unable to catch the attention of a single possible client for his beloved Hublot. This might be due to the Hublot's unusual design or the fact that its straps were made of rubber.
Carlo, never one to give up lightly, persisted, and after a few tweaks to his plan, the Hublot brand had its first great boom in the luxury timepiece industry. The Hublot brand had made over $2 million in earnings by the conclusion of its first year of business.
Passion and perseverance were required of the new Hublot brand because Switzerland was recognized to be home to several larger and more established luxury watch manufacturers at the time. Hublot's sales staff had to put in a lot of effort in the 1980s in terms of advertising and marketing to persuade consumers to trust them and invest large quantities of money in their products.
As sales began to rise gradually in the early 1990s, Carlo and Hublot kept to what they had created, with a few minor tweaks here and there. During this period, the brand was patronized by renowned dignitaries such as Elton John and Giorgio Armani.
Hublot's revenues began to fall in the early 2000s, and the company was forced to close. Carlo felt that it was time to find someone else who would be an addition to the firm and provide some fresh ideas and professional views after careful consideration.
Jean-Clade Biver joined Hublot's management team as CEO in 2004 after a thorough investigation. Jean's entry into the firm was a benefit for Hublot because he was already a sage in the industry (he had previously been the President of Swatch Group's Omega Division).
Hublot created the "Tremendous Bang" line in 2005, and it was a big bang indeed, thanks to his rigorous supervision and management. These unusual and gorgeous wristwatches delighted everyone who saw them, and Hublot's sales skyrocketed once again.
Since then, Hublot has produced a large number of wristwatches and has established itself as one of the world's top luxury watch companies, winning several accolades and becoming a favorite of celebrities and the upper crust.
